My Personal Statement and Declaration of Interest

My Other Blog is a blog set up by Penny Kocher. It is administered solely by Penny Kocher and Bill Kocher and does not have any employees. The blog exists to communicate and connect with a community of people who are interested in issues around politics and social policy.  It is a vehicle for Penny Kocher to write posts and communicate with her readers.  It is not a vehicle for selling anything and the blog does not share or sell any information belonging to people who read and comment on this blog.  In essence, the blog is a vehicle for writing.

However, it does collect data.  The privacy statement below outlines how this data is stored and what your rights are.

Privacy Statement

My Other Blog operates blog.   It is My Other Blog’s policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating this blog.

Blog Visitors – readers

Like most blogs, My Other Blog collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the referring site, and the date of each reader visit.

My Other Blog’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how My Other Blog ‘s readers use the blog (e.g. what is the most popular day for reading this blog). My Other Blog could release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its blog but has not done so, apart from occasionally making a reference to how many visitors/followers the blog has.

Blog Visitors – commenters

My Other Blog also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses of users leaving comments on the blog. My Other Blog does not use and disclose this information such as the commenter IP addresses and email address. These can only be seen by the administrators of the blog, who are Penny Kocher and Bill Kocher.

Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information

Visitors to the blog can read posts on this blog and not sign up, but that means they will not receive notice of the weekly blog posts written by Penny Kocher. To notify people of these posts, we ask visitors who sign up at blog to provide an email address. But visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging with the weekly posts.

My Other Blog does not disclose this personally-identifying information other than as described below.

Aggregated Statistics

  • My Other Blog may collect statistics about the behaviour of visitors to its website.
  • My Other Blog may display this information publicly but only as a reference to the number of followers and/or visitors.

Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information

My Other Blog discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those administrators, contractors and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information to process it on My Other Blog’s behalf or to provide services available at My Other Blog’s website, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. This includes who send out the email to signed up followers. And Jetpack who process the aggregate statistics and protects the site from spam and bots. Some of those contractors and affiliated organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using My Other Blog’s website, you consent to the transfer of such information to them.

My Other Blog will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than its administrators, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, My Other Blog would disclose potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request, or when My Other Blog believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of My Other Blog, third parties or the public at large.

This site uses cookies to help My Other Blog identify and track visitors, their usage of My Other Blog website, and their website access preferences. My Other Blog commenters can request (in writing with reasonable notice) access to their data stored on our server.  Commenters can also request (in writing with reasonable notice) that their comments and data be deleted. Followers can unsubscribe from My Other Blog at any time.

Although most changes are likely to be minor, My Other Blog may change its Privacy Statement from time to time, and at My Other Blog ‘s sole discretion.
